September 2019 – David (Dave) Lewis – Director of Commercial Management named Employee of the Month – Also Kansas Honor Flight Recipient Sept 4-6, 2019
Today is a special day for Dave (and 56 other Kansas veterans) as an honored recipient of the Kansas Honor Flight Program. Many veterans of WWII, the Korean War, or Vietnam never had an opportunity to visit the monuments built in their honor, so the Honor Flight program takes vets of these wars to Washington DC for an all expense paid three day tour to see them and experience them with their own eyes and feel the pride of country and service. Thank you Dave for your service! Learn more about this organization here.
Dave was hired in 1992 and has served 28 years and counting at Weigand-Omega. He is an associate broker for the company, has achieved the Certified Property Manager and Real Property Administrator designations, he has been the local Chapter President for Institute of Real Estate Management multiple times, was co-founder and past President of the Apartment Association of Greater Wichita, was a charter inductee into the Wichita Apartment Association Hall of Fame, and serves as an adjunct professor and faculty member for the Wichita State University Center for Real Estate.
Dave has managed a wide variety of asset types for the company ranging from apartments, mixed-use historical buildings, retail, office, industrial warehouse, and shopping malls. He is now responsible for the leadership of the Commercial Department and oversees the Facility Services Department. He has been a pillar in the firm’s commercial department for many years, but since his promotion to the Director role, he has built and developed an exceptional team that provides management services for about 55 commercial locations. His leadership has been instrumental in changing how the department works and preparing it for future growth, better efficiencies, enhanced services, and he always carries the best interests of the company, associates, and clients at heart.
Personal and professional growth, mentoring, working as a team, corporate culture, and driving strategic goals for the company are all priorities for this individual. He has shown great humility in his leadership role and regularly asks for honest feedback from his team, and has built a good rapport with them so he actually gets it. He is honest and willing to share his knowledge readily with others, and truly cares about developing those around him. A number of our clients see him as an integral part of their investment strategy and rely on his council and expertise.
For displaying our core values of The Pursuit of Excellence, Leadership and Humility, Dave was also awarded the President’s Award at our 2019 Leadership Conference.
