BELOIT – Every year the Porter House “adopts” a teacher and the residents donate items that can be used in the classroom. Once the adopted teacher has been chosen, that teacher submits a “Dream List” to the Porter HOuse and the residents then spend the month of August collecting those items on the list. Each year, teachers use their own money to buy items for their classrooms. By donating these items, it helps them fill their classrooms with items that they would otherwise have to spend their own money on. This year, Mrs. Bisnette’s Kindergarten class at St. John’s Catholic school was chosen to receive the donations. The residents have a wonderful time hunting down and donating items that are on the teacher’s dream list. After the drive is over at the end of August, all of the donated items are presented to the teacher and the class.
